Renaissance

From Encyc

The Renaissance was a historical time period in Europe from around the 14th to the 17th centuries. It began in northern Italy and spread throughout Europe. It featured increased learning, exploration, trade, and discovery. Many important works of art were created. Ancient texts from the Greeks and Romans were rediscovered and studied.

The Roman Catholic church lost power as Europeans in general became less superstitious, more individualistic, and began to resent sending large parts of their income to Rome.
