Jerusalem is the capital and largest city of Israel, being home to around one million people.

It has been the capital of Israel or Judah for most of the last 3000 years, since its capture by King David in about the year 1000 BC.

Teddy Kollek was mayor of Jerusalem from 1969 to 1993.
