Fennec Fox
The Fennec Fox (Fennecus zerda) is the World's smallest fox. It is found in the sandy Sahara Desert and elsewhere in North Africa. Its main physical feature is its abnormally large ears. Its long, thick fur insulates it from the cold desert nights.
The Fennec Fox is known for its ability to hear extremely well. It can radiate heat to keep itself warm and reverberate sound using its abnormally large ears.
The Fennec Fox is also one of few types of foxes that can cope well in a domestic setting alongside dogs, cats and other pets. Nonetheless, it counts as an "exotic" pet, which means that some veterinarians will refuse to treat it if it gets ill, and some consider that it is not truly domesticated. It is relatively common in USA and Canada for a Fennec Fox to be kept as a pet.
