Encyclopaedia Dramatica
From Encyc
Encyclopaedia Dramatica was an encyclopedia-style wiki-based website that contained satirical and provocative material. The site published user-generated content containing profanity, racism, misogyny, and antisemitism. Encyclopaedia Dramatica ran on MediaWiki software and was funded by running ads to pornographic websites. Some of these ads contained computer viruses. In April 2011, the site was taken down by its founder, Sherrod DeGrippo, and replaced by Oh Internet, a PG-rated version of Dramatica. She cited the increasing immaturity of ED contributors as one of the reasons for the change. A new Encyclopedia Dramatica, hosted on a .se domain, was created later by a different group of people.
