Helium

Helium is the element with atomic number 2, represented by the symbol He. One atom of Helium contains 2 protons, 2 electrons and 2 neutrons. It has eight known isotopes, of which helium-3 and helium-4 are stable.

It is a noble gas and is the least reactive of those elements, and therefore the least reactive of all elements. It is colourless, tasteless and odourless.

Helium is used as a buoyant filling for balloons and blimps, and as an inert gas for breathing in SCUBA tanks.
