Ancient Rome was a great civilization. It survived a thousand years, with territories surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, extending to Persia in the east and the Danube River?, Rhine River?, and Hadrian's Wall in the north. Western civilization? continues to be heavily influenced by Rome to this day.
